Joelle Aeschlimann’s Little Boxes is a concept of three music boxes built especially for use with an iPad. The boxes are recognised when placed on the iPad and, like traditional music boxes, are activated by turning a hand crank. Each music box is a different size and shape, and contains its own universe – that is revealed through an animation and melody appropriate to its physical design. Depending on the speed and direction at which the crank is turned, sounds and animations can be played faster or slower, or in reverse motion. Little Boxes brings one of the oldest and most beloved toys together with modern technology to create a truly playful experience.
