You Gonna Find What You Search
In Filippa Hanzon's You Gonna Find What You Search three cameras are positioned around a cylinder. Through the cameras, which are the only means of seeing inside the structure, viewers can observe what happens inside, but some of what they see is in real-time, some of it recorded. Inside the cylinder a trio of musicians rehearses... something – they're in the middle of a performance which never seems to reach a climax, and slowly the opaqueness of their actions begins to reflect something more universal: three people communicating through a joint act, exploring something undefined. The cylinder, containing the trio, becomes a sort of time capsule where the passage of time inside is staggered versus time outside. Time and space are called into question for the viewer, who has no idea exactly what is taking place in the present moment.
