fEATHERFISH

A surreal cubist animation about hubris, defeat and emotional fragility, Katharina Niedermeier's short animation fEATHERFISH adopts a striking stop-motion technique that uses two materials: paper, from which the figures and strange landscapes are cut; and raw meat, cut in chunks, rolling wetly over the surfaces of things. When the two materials touch, they change each other. Following a protagonist named 'Me' as he exults in, suffers in the prison of, and finally recovers from his pride in his own power and independence, fEATHERFISH is an unusual, intense, angular animation piece accompanied by a poetic and ludic narrated text.
