BA ZEN/POOL is a physical performance developed by Nela Kornetova, a graduate of Janek Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno's department of Clown, Scene and Film Making. Inspired by the poetic texts of Martin Berntek, the piece connects claustrophobia and existential pressure in an abstracted, dream-like narrative. There is unnamed person living in a small room; it's his home but it cramps him. A man with an abnormally large head, he walks round in small steps to survey his limited space. He seems nervous, strange. The atmosphere is tinged by oppressive music, joined by the sound of water dripping into a basin; elements of light and projection intensify the sense of closeness and dread. Everything appears to be real, but then we begin to witness surreal visions, and the line between dream and reality starts to blur.
