Against the backdrop of the role of women, Roos Quakernaat examines the common language of everyday objects, the space they occupy and the movements they yield. The artist provokes light-hearted associations by bringing together photographs and elements of found footage. There is an aspect of fun yet also of a slightly morbid atmosphere, where Quakernaat points to 1950's housewife calisthenics as a metaphor for restriction and subordination. Quakernaat adresses themes like the functioning of dysfunctional people in society, and the absurdity of certain social habits.
