A Kind of Witness
A Kind of Witness manoeuvres the initial context of places through the language of light and recreates these ‘passing experiences’ of waiting, deciding and pausing in daily life. When the passing experiences cease to exist and the lights are on, ‘positive and negative prints’ are overlapped and exposed in a configuration they both share, eliminating a sense of border between routines and non-routines. These installations employ fluorescent paint’s two features: its luminous effect and painting’s brush strokes, depicting formless light in a place as a material space in the physical world beyond usual concepts.
